Blackfork Labradors breeding quality English AKC registered fox red labs, including yellow, chocolate and black Labradors. We are located on a 120-acre farm in a valley of the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma, serving Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, and New Mexico. Our lab puppies are bred for companions, hunting, showing and therapy.

Blackfork Labrador Retrievers specializes in breeding the fox red shade. We have fox red lab puppies available through out the year, along with black, chocolate and yellow Labrador pups. Blackfork Labs takes great pride in striving to improve our fox red labs taking into consideration health, temperament, soundness and the Labrador Retriever Breed Standard. Parents have proper health clearances including hips, elbows, eyes, PRA, EIC, MCD, HNPK and CNM testing.

Fox red is not a separate color of the Labrador but a shade of yellow. In the early years of the breed development, fox red or dark yellow was the original yellow shade of the Labrador Retriever. Fox red is the darkest shade of yellow Labradors.

When looking for a breeder that produces fox reds in their breeding program, it is very important that the following questions be asked:
Do you have an overall goal for your breeding program? This goal should be more than just producing wonderful pets for families.
Ask to see copies of clearances. OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, Eye CERFS, PRA and EIC.
It is very important that your breeder is doing annual eye CERFs to be certain that eye issues have not developed over time.

Here at Blackfork Labradors we are striving to improve the overall standard of the fox red. I do not breed solely for depth of color. I spend hours researching pedigrees and calling other breeders to ask questions. I strive to breed out to stud dogs of all colors that can add things that are lacking in the overall standard of today’s fox red Labradors in hopes of improving overall confirmation and health of the fox red. That means there will be times that my fox reds will be bred to black stud dogs and yellows of all shades.

We wanted to share a little about FREYA from the Hunter and Juliet litter.

She is a complete joy and has a beautiful personality.

She is six months old now and is so intelligent she challenges us daily.

We have a couple of child safety gates up to keep the dogs out of certain areas and she mastered being able to unlatch those quickly (by the latch itself).

She has now figured out how to open doors using the door knob.

She is a beautiful baby.

Shes a 1.5 year old Jessie/Rhys baby who is now known as Mama J.

The littke one is “Opus.”

She’s a 3 mo old Bubbles/Chance baby.

It’s so amazing to see the little one actively learning the importance of cuddling from a master.

Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that Gus is doing fantastic and we love him to pieces.

He’s been working with a local hunting trainer who is sure he’ll pass his Jr Hunt Test with flying colors;

He has a very strong retrieving drive.

He has the best temperament of any puppy I’ve ever owned, training has been a breeze–thanks for doing what you do!

I took him to the vet on Monday for his last shots and he weighed in at 32 pounds, he’s gonna be a big boy!
