Our Story
We live on a 120-acre farm in a valley of the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma. We share this amazing place with some of our immediate and extended family.
Our passion for Labradors started in 2001 when we purchased our first Labrador, Boss, as a companion for our daughter on her 4th birthday. Two years later, Sadie joined our family, and after her first litter of puppies in 2004, we decided to expand our family of Labradors.
Our goal is to breed excellent dual purpose Labradors than make great companions & family pets that also have the ability to excel in the field and show ring. We are very pleased with the progress we have made with our breeding programs.
At Blackfork Labradors, our breeding program is built on one simple principle: health and structure must come first.
Over the past 20 years, we have prioritized orthopedic soundness, correct Labrador type, and long-term genetic improvement in our lines.
Today, the OFA database reflects that commitment.
Blackfork Labradors OFA Hip Results
• 169 dogs evaluated in the OFA database
• 54% – Excellent
• 42% – Good
• 2% – Fair
• 1% – Fail
That means 96% of our dogs receive the two highest OFA ratings: Excellent or Good.
These results are not from a single generation — they represent years of consistent selection, evaluation, and responsible breeding decisions.
Great Labradors don’t happen by accident.
They are built through pedigree analysis, health testing, and careful breeding choices generation after generation.
At Blackfork Labradors, we believe in transparency.
The records are public.
The results speak for themselves.
To truly improve the fox red Labrador, it is often necessary to breed outside the fox red shade of yellow to strengthen the qualities that define the Labrador Retriever as a whole. Careful selection from other bloodlines and coat colors allows us to improve structure, movement, health clearances, and overall breed type while preserving the rich fox red color we love.
At Blackfork Labradors, we have spent over 20 years thoughtfully building pedigrees that combine exceptional conformation, sound orthopedics, and classic Labrador temperament. Because of this long-term vision and selective breeding, our fox red pedigrees are unique—lines you simply won’t find anywhere else.
The result is Labrador Retrievers that are beautiful, structurally sound, and versatile companions for the home, field, therapy work, and the show ring.
